HAPPENSTANCE is an end-of-relationship song. Perhaps the most overly-written-about subject. And by now, probably the cheapest way to compose a lyric. This was my last-ditch effort to salvage sinking cargo. The words were predominantly stream-of-consciousness, then-current musings of where, when and why.

In an effort to be clever, I threw in - for those paying attention - a couple of double negatives to point out our unconditional usefulness.
